Excited for 2009 Season

February 11, 2009 8:41 pm

2008 was a rough season for us (UNLV) last season.  We looked goot at times beating Arizona State in a huge upset.  However, as the season moved on, we lost some close games I thought we could have won.

The season, 5-7, was much better than the last few.  Sanford was renewed and now we look to the future.  We got some good recruits and I think we maybe bowl bound this year.

What do you think?  I know we are not USC, but hey, we can get better and be like a Utah team.  Ok, maybe, we can win like 8 games this year.

Go Rebels!!!!

If they work on defense as hard as they did on offense, they should be much improved. This team could win 6 or 7 games if they stay healthy. The backups have to be prepared to play in case a starter goes down. This was not the case last year. Running back will be the biggest question mark on this team going into the fall. If you look at many of those "close" loses the defense broke down, part of that was fatige and lack of depth on defense. hopefully the d can get a consistant pass rush as the Rebs ranked at the bottom of the conference in sacks. I am excited too. Go Rebels!!

We should be able to beat Sacramento State and SDSU without much probelm.  Hawaii is in disarey and they usually don't play good away from Hawaii so hopefully there is the third home win.  There other home games are against BYU, Utah, Oregon St, and Colorado St.  Hopefully they can beat one of those games.  Then I really hope we can beat UNR there and then the other away games against Wyoming, AirForce, TCU, and NewMexico hopefully we should be able to beat 2 of these away games.  With all this we should be easily 6-6 and I don't see why we can't be 7-5.  I don't see a 9-3 for next year and 8-4 I think is unlikely but with a few small things going our way a maybe.

Who knows, anything can happen in football. It would be great to upset some teams this year. We have a great offense. If we can put togther some defensive stops I believe we will get to 8 or 9 wins this year, excluding injuries. I really think this is coach Sanfords last chanceand I think he knows that, thus the recent dismises, and I see him coming out scrapping. GO UNLV. I am pumped about the 2009 season we are going to be better then expected.
